Thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu and the Universe

My marketing lady had me pose some questions to West Side parents and students to help us better market the school. One of the questions was,

What is not good about West Side?

Here were some of the answers:

Sometimes it gets a bit hot!
I can’t think of anything
language and interruptions by students
kids running around during adult class.
kid to instructor ratio too high/ disruptive kids.
dirty mats
Matt burns, infections.
The heat
too many kids per teacher/short class time.
It lacks experience, relative to other schools
I can’t think of anything.
no stable location…moves too much

Now I must admit that these things are hard to hear, but they have been heard, and they need to be addressed. I want to improve the school, and the only way to do that is to know what’s wrong with it, so I appreciate the frank and candid replies I received.

The good news is that the things we’ve decided to focus on at the school (the things we consider to be our image) are not in the “What’s wrong with West Side?” list. No complaints about not being technically sound, or having bad instructors, or not being friendly, or not concerned about students, or bad curriculum, or not being equipped. For me, that’s the good news. Now it’s time to try and remedy the problems revealed by the survey. I’d like to thank the people who responded to the survey, it really does help. So, I’m addressing these problems and will work on resolving them. Thanks, Mark
