Thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu and the Universe

These notes were buried in a box I unearthed from a closet hidden in the depths of my basement. These are a couple of pages of some notes I took circa 1998, the beginning of my jiu-jitsu training.

I’m a big fan of notes, or taking video, or whatever you have to do to process a lot of information. For me it has always been note taking and drawing, but I think video would be more efficient nowadays, unless of course you’re not allowed (some instructors don’t allow video in their schools), then the good ol’ paper and pencil will do just fine. Notes are good, take some.

I do this. I have a whole journal actually. As a teacher you probably know people learn different ways: visual, auditory, touch, doing, etc. In class, we learn by doing (and visual). When you go home and write it down, your brain has to process it differently to explain it so it makes sense. I think it cements that shit in better.

Your ability to rapidly sketch the human anatomy is incredible.
