When I teach I like to walk around; I like to watch and make suggestions and corrections if need be. Of course I like to train, but I feel guilty if I’m not on the outside helping. Tonight while walking from group to group I heard a lot of great things. The number one thing I heard was guys teaching each other; guys helping each other learn. It was fantastic.

The guys at the school were also exchanging jiu-jitsu DVDs, and talking about gis, and jiu-jitsu players, and techniques and BJ Penn and Roger Gracie. People were smiling and training and sharing and learning; it was awesome. This is the environment that people can learn in—this is the friendly and inspiring atmosphere I’ve always wanted to be associated with–this is West Side.
