Thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu and the Universe

I’m always thinking about things I want to do, and it seems jiu-jitsu is always involved. I’ve been thinking for years now about a summer road trip –a West Side Road Trip—three weeks would do. It would involve a rented RV, a group of jiu-jitsu guys, and a list of jiu-jitsu schools around the country we’ve always dreamt of training at.

Can you imagine a band of jiu-jiteiro out on the road training at the schools of their dreams while learning and recording what they’ve done, maybe even blogging and posting about it on the actual trip?

Then if that trip was successful, we could plan a trip around the world, to train at schools in different countries. It would be awesome.

I have many dreams, and to me, this one seems plausible. Who’s in? Who wants, no, needs to go on a West Side road trip?

Here are my dream schools to visit in the US:

In no particular order

1. Rickson Gracie Academy (Torrence, CA)
2. Marcelo Garcia Academy (Hollywood, FL)
3. Undisputed Training Center (Baret Yoshida, San Diego, Ca)
4. Jean Jacques Machado Academy (Oxnard, CA)
5. RGA Academy (Renzo Gracie, New York, NY)

Dream schools to visit around the world:

1. Roger Gracie Academy (London, England)
2. Laughter7 (Kazushi Sakuraba. Tokyo, Japan)
3. Gracie Humaita (Royler Gracie, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil)
4. BJ Penn Academy (Hilo, HI) * since you can’t drive to Hawaii, I’ve decided to put this on the world list
5. Academia Demian Maia (Sao Paulo, Brazil)

Where would you go?
