Jiu-Jitsu is in Everything
This is a Chicken-Bone Chopper, born in the mind and made with the hands of Lionel Hogan—you know the tattoo artist/graffiti writer/airbrusher/metal working bike builder, who does jiu-jitsu.
I love this picture because it reminds me of machines—of mechanisms, of how things are put together, how they’re created and become an interdependent system—pieces, put together to build something greater than the sum of their parts.
This bike is jiu-jitsu.
All those techniques you are learning in class are the pieces that you’ll use to build a jiu-jitsu machine; one that is custom, one that represents your likes, one that is comfortable to your body, one that is built from the pieces you have discovered. Eventually you will put all the pieces together and build your own custom machine.
Jiu-jitsu is a chopper.
