Thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu and the Universe

Running a jiu-jitsu tournament isn’t easy, and running a kids’ tournament is quite frankly much harder, but man is it fun. There are always people that complain, but more importantly there are people who don’t, people that recognize your efforts and understand your short comings.

It amazes me to see the nature of people in this kind of environment. There were people constantly asking me how they could help, stepping up to ref, to give guys a break, encouraging kids from other schools, and just being good people. I appreciate that.

There are some things that need to be addressed for next year’s tournament. I have a year to work on them, and I’m excited to get started. I would like to thank all the volunteers, parents and schools for helping out with the tournament. Next year’s tourney will be the 10th Annual West Side Classic (a decade in the making) it should be good.
